5/5 - I enjoyed this book so much. Jumping between two different timelines, the novel follows the life of the 'marsh girl' in a small town in North Carolina. At once a coming-of-age story, a romance, and a murder mystery, this novel keeps you turning the pages and truly caring about the characters. It can be heart-warming and heart-breaking but it's definitely a read I recommend. Also, the ending had me shook.
